Play Walking Football

You do not need to be an experienced footballer, and you do not need to be match-fit before you start. HWFC has sessions for different levels of experience and intensity.

The game

What is walking football?

Walking football keeps the passing, movement, teamwork and enjoyment of football while players move at a walking pace rather than running.

It can be played socially, competitively, or somewhere in between. For some people it is a way back into football after many years away. For others it is a way to keep playing the game they already love. Some people start without having played organised football before.

Eligibility

Is walking football for me?

Men's walking football
Generally for players aged 50 and over.
Ladies' walking football
For women aged 35 and over.
Experience
Experienced, returning, beginner and completely new players are welcome.

Competitive teams may be entered in age-banded competitions such as U55, U65 and U70 when required. These competition categories are separate from normal weekly-session eligibility.

First visit

Coming along for the first time?

Contact HWFC beforehand and tell us which session you are interested in. There is no special trial-session format.

When you arrive

We will make sure someone is there to greet you, introduce you to the group and help you get settled into the session.

During the session

Join in at a level that suits you. Nobody expects a new player to know all the walking-football rules or club routines before they arrive.
